Easy to use, got the job done

So I needed to update an old laptop, had to make a bootable drive for the OS. My buddy told me about Rufus. I just downloaded the portable version so no install needed, which was cool. Picked my ISO, picked the USB, and click go. It just did its thing. Took like ten minutes maybe. The new OS installed perfectly fine off that drive. Way easier than I thought it would be, honestly.

Great value, worked perfectly

I was looking for a free utility to make a bootable USB and found Rufus. Given it's a no-cost tool, I was a bit skeptical at first, but it delivered beyond expectations. I used it to create a FreeDOS bootable USB. The process was straightforward, and the utility performed exactly as described without any hidden costs or upsells. For something that's completely free, the functionality is incredible. It definitely felt worth the download.

Consistent performance, always reliable

I've been using Rufus for years now, probably since version 2.x. This time around, I needed to flash some BIOS firmware, and like always, it just worked. I've used it for Windows installs, various Linux distros, and even a Windows To Go drive once. The consistency is what keeps me coming back. Every new version I've tried has been just as stable and efficient as the last. It's my go-to utility for anything involving bootable USBs. Never had an issue that wasn't user error.

Fantastic tool, a lifesaver!

Oh my goodness, Rufus is absolutely brilliant! I needed to create a bootable USB for Windows 11 with the TPM bypass, and it worked flawlessly. So quick and easy, I couldn't believe it. This utility saved me so much hassle. I'm telling everyone I know about this. Seriously, it's a must-have tool for anyone dealing with system installations. I'll definitely be using it again for any future needs!

Detailed review of Rufus use

I downloaded Rufus from the official site to create a Windows 10 bootable USB drive, specifically using the Windows ISO downloader feature directly within Rufus. The download was quick, and the application itself is very light. The interface was intuitive, even for a first-time user of this specific tool, though I've used similar utilities before. I selected my ISO, picked the USB drive, and within minutes, it was done. I also used the bad block checker on an old drive, and it confirmed some issues I suspected. The process was smooth, and the drive booted up perfectly fine when I tested it. No crashes or unexpected behavior. It's a reliable piece of software that performed every task I threw at it efficiently.

Thinking of using this to make a Linux bootable drive for an old laptop. Does it work fine with like Ubuntu ISOs, or is it mostly just for Windows?

T Tara S. 3 months ago
Definitely works for Linux! I've made several Ubuntu and Pop!_OS drives with it, no issues.

It supports Linux ISOs, yeah. I think it's pretty versatile, not just for Windows. Used it for Fedora too.

Nah, it's totally free. Been using it for years, never paid a cent. They don't even have a 'pro' version or anything.

Yeah, can confirm. It's open-source, so no hidden fees or anything like that. Just download and go.
